Especially when they seem to happen so often and so extremely.

I'm generally wary of optimistic attempts to twist everything - even its opposite - into a positive. That's how you get vile ideas like the Just World Fallacy and prejudices against people whose lives aren't hunky-dory, (because if they're not improving then they're "not doing it right").

And I can think of quite a few ways evil can irredeemably fuck people over. While Applejack is (hopefully) not a fanatic zealot in Canon, she is admittedly the most likely to be one(Stubborn as hell, stereotypical "farmgurl", dead parents, ect.) Scootaloo's family was not living "happily", as they had tons of issues even before the story, and Dawn coming into play just happened to make all those issues erupt into dysfunction. Because I will apparently still type "Crtl + t + onemanspony + Enter" when I'm especially sleepy. It's muscle memory now, and that's your fault, Chris.

Humbled and a little bit frightened that you picked out my comment to quote. I don't blame you one iota that you didn't immediately recall my email. Honestly, I pretty certain that you must have been at least a little annoyed at the time. But that's kinda what makes the memory special to me; you had absolutely no reason to help, but you did. If I remember right, my heart was literally pounding in my ears as I sent that email off, and again when I posted Shoots and Roots. Like I said, nervous wreck, but you absolutely did help.

I can't even imagine the universe where you stopped after finishing up the 6-Star Reviews, but I know that it's an objectively worse timeline. Thank you so much for your years of dedication. I am so happy to have share this crazy cartoon-pony-fueled adventure with you and those you've brought together!Bachiavellianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06634464927862521090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184562969471581744.post-62234292835847281102018-06-30T06:23:53.102-05:002018-06-30T06:23:53.102-05:00Oh great, now you're gonna die. :(Oh great, now you're gonna die. :(Present Perfecthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16195959811544391904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184562969471581744.post-41658297695290400962018-06-29T22:04:56.193-05:002018-06-29T22:04:56.193-05:00Shine on, indeed...

Thank you!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11581572699330155065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184562969471581744.post-14173222228891527172018-06-29T21:58:40.610-05:002018-06-29T21:58:40.610-05:00If I've not said it before, I'll say now: ...If I've not said it before, I'll say now: OMPR was probably one of my greatest educational experiences as a writer. After over a thousand reviews, read over the course of six years, how could it not be? Every piece of criticism you gave to other stories was something I considered and tried to internalise, and "What would Chris say?" was a question I would ask myself constantly during my writing process for years. I imagine it's a question I'll continue to ask myself for years to come.

You and your reviews have been an important part of my life since I joined this fandom, and I'm hardly alone in that. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this blog over the years. As much as I'm sad to see it end after all this time, I'll always be glad for the time we had.

Shine on, you crazy diamond.
DannyJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13273313206696087395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184562969471581744.post-496924977459206142018-06-29T21:57:50.038-05:002018-06-29T21:57:50.038-05:00I never realized I had that kind of role in your r...I never realized I had that kind of role in your reviewing. Thank you for sharing; like you say, maybe things would have come out the same for you (for us) regardless, but we're lucky enough to live in a world where we'll never know.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how much you've helped my writing; it's no coincidence that when the RCL featured one of my stories, they picked one that you'd helped me whip into shape. But more than that, your constant presence around here has helped me grow as a reviewer, even as you say it helped you do the same. I simply would not be the writer, of fiction and analysis alike, that I am today, if you hadn't been there.

...Though considering how awkwardly that last sentence reads, perhaps I still have a bit more to learn :) But one more time: thank you, for everything.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11581572699330155065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184562969471581744.post-88282115904127813212018-06-29T21:52:05.594-05:002018-06-29T21:52:05.594-05:00Well, you can read one of them here:
